Pitch Perfect And The Hobbit Are TOTALLY The Same Movie!!

These two movies may seem different on the surface, but in reality, they are almost interchangeable.

So, the other day a friend of mine asked me to go see The Hobbit with her. I had previously seen the other Lord of the Rings movies and I liked them enough, but there was nothing about The Hobbit that made me HAVE to see it.

After Django Unchained and Les Miserables, I had already had my fill of 2hr 30+min movies for the season. However, being the good friend I am (and being bribed with the sweet promise of free popcorn), I reluctantly agreed. Truth be told, I actually ended up enjoying the film, but there was something that kept bothering me throughout.

Okay guys, so lesbehonest, The Hobbit was pretty much a total rip-off of Pitch Perfect. I mean, sure they changed a few things around, but the similarities are just too close to be ‘coincidental’. I mean, if I were the directors of Pitch Perfect, I would consider taking legal action against these guys!

Here are examples to prove my point:

Both Movies Revolve Around a Newcomer Who Joins a Rag-Tag Group.

Bilbo Baggins sets off on a quest with a group of dwarves, Anna Kendrick (Beca) is forced to join an A Capella group at Barden University. And so it begins...

Both Main Characters Have Their Personal Space Invaded.

Brittany Snow and the 13 dwarves need to look up ‘personal boundaries’.

Both Movies Feature a Same-Sex Entourage that Our Characters Travel With.

Does anybody else think it’d be kinda hot to see these groups go at it? Nope? Just me? Okay, thought so… yikes.

Both Films Feature a Pleasantly Plump Character to Create Comic Relief.

While Bombur crushed tables, Fat Amy crushed everything… including our hearts. We’re getting a Fat Amy spin-off, right? RIGHT?!?!

Both Films Have a Leader Who is Super Skeptical of the Noob.

”Acca-scuse me?” Enough said!

This Same Leader is Also Seeking Redemption from Their Past.

Seeing your grandfather beheaded or projectile vomiting in front of hundreds… not really sure who needs to redeem themselves more!

Both Movies Totally Feature Wizards Who Conjure MAGIC!

Sure, he was knighted, but can Gandolf even sing?!??

Both of Our Troupes Travel and Hit Obstacles Along the Way.

There weren’t any Miley Cyrus songs in The Hobbit, point for it!

At One Point in Each Film, Our Lead Feels Out of Place and Bails.

Of course, our heroes triumphantly return, duh!

Both Also Feature Commentators That Nobody Cares What They Think.

So, this one is a bit of a stretch, but how could I possibly talk about Pitch Perfect without throwing the brilliant Elizabeth Banks in it?!??

AND, here’s the kicker, the BOTH feature some excellent A Cappella singing!!!

I literally left the theater humming that Dwarf song. I also purchased the Pitch Perfect soundtrack. Conclusion: Every movie from now on will need an A Capella performance in it. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT KIND OF SONG AND DANCE NUMBER HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS HAS IN STORE FOR US!!!

I don’t know what Peter Jackson was thinking, but Pitch Perfect came out a whopping 3 months before The Hobbit. Nice try, guys. Nice try.
