Evander Holyfield Vs. Frans Botha - Round 1- The Legend Returns - April 10, 2010

The 47-year-old former Heavyweight boxing champion, Evander “Real Deal” Holyfield, comes back to the ring against South African Frans Botha on April 10, 2010 at the Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, Nevada. Evander “Real Deal” Holyfield, 42-10-2 (27 KOs), Atlanta, Georgia: Holyfield has been inactive since the Valuev fight 15 months ago. That shouldn’t affect him, as he is an old pro who knows what he is doing. I think Holyfield is sincere in his quest to become champion again. His body still looks like it is chiseled from granite and he still works hard. It’s just that what we see in the ring is a dilapidated facsimile of what used to be great fighter. Botha was a good fighter, but at 41, he has slowed down. http://www.boxingtube.org/ Frans Botha, 47-4-3 (28 KOs), Newport Beach, California/South Africa: An underrated fighter, Botha has scored some good wins in his career and given a hard time to some of the best. Last year, he scored a win over decent Timo Hoffman and it looked like maybe he could still fight a bit, but he looked pretty bad in his last fight—a draw against the big but unspectacular Pedro Carrion. During big chunks of the last decade, Botha has spent a lot of time pursuing fights in K-1 and MMA. He was tough and even scored a few decent wins, but he is clearly a more successful boxer.
