Focus T25 Reviews Shaun T's FOCUS T25 Base Kit - DVD Workout

First off a little about me. I'm in my thirties and I have done various at home dvd's like Gilad, P90x, Insanity and Insanity Asylum. I have also worked with trainers and worked out on my own but I am by no means a fitness expert. I know a lot of people have asked what is the difference between Insanity and this new workout? I know Shaun T himself has said that the programs shouldn't be compared but it is inevitable. So if you look at the first month of Insanity and take away the stretch those routines are roughly a half hour or less which pretty much equals the same amount of time as Focus T25. Now I have only done the first month workouts but here are some major differences I've noticed. T25 features progressive exercises. For example when you do switch kicks you start standing on the floor with no jumping and simply do a low switch kick. After around thirty seconds you will then jump and do a normal switch kick while still keeping your legs low. After this you progress to kicking your legs at waist level which is a normal switch kick. As a result of this it seems that T25 is more low impact than Insanity. I would have very sore knees from Insanity and it seems that is a common occurrence with that program. In addition to this once you have exhausted one body part Shaun T will introduce a different exercise focusing on a different part of the body. I have also noticed less push ups (in the first month). If you have Insanity then you know that push ups are in nearly every workout. There is also a burnout in T25. After you do a set of moves you then combine them and push as hard as you can(although you will be pushing the whole video). The moves will be the final progressive movement for each exercise and it usually occurs halfway thru the workout and at the end. I have to say I really like the production value of these dvds. The clock in the bottom left corner is a plus. One thing people might now like with this series is that you switch from one exercise to another without instruction beforehand. I'm sure after you do the routines a few times this won't be an issue. Also as others have mentioned this workout isn't really 5 days a week and 25 minutes a day. Yes the workouts are 25 minutes plus a 3 minute stretch. Then on the 5th day you do two workouts which is almost an hour. In addition you have a stretch on the 7th day after you get the 6th day off. I don't think many people would be bothered by this but it just seems very misleading to how it's being advertised. Overall I would have to say that I have really enjoyed the workouts. There is a good variety in DVD's although there are some moves repeated in some discs. I know I thought the workouts might be too easy but when you are pushing hard for 25 minutes without a break you will be drenched in sweat and it felt like a great workout to me. If you've done Shaun T's programs before you will find some old moves along with some new ones in this set. I highly recommend this program and I truly think the 25 minute lengths actually help mentally more than with time. When you know you only have 25 minutes to push as hard as you can and knock it out then it makes it easier to get up and do. Thanks for reading!!
