Some lessons last forever. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us some of them. While Arjuna was in the battlefield, fighting against his own family, clouded with doubts, Lord Krishna came to his rescue. There was that time. There is this time. There are no battlefields, you don't have to decide whether or not you should kill your own kin, you just have to fight your daily small battles. Where does the Bhagavad Gita fit in then?
If you are lucky enough, you will find your own Krishna (guardian angel), he will guide you through the thick and thin, help you make some decisions that you couldn't otherwise take. But most of us won't be so lucky.
Here's a look at the Bhagavad Gita, not as it is:
1) Whenever you get into a fight with your manager regarding your appraisal, always tell yourself, "The man of harmony surrenders the reward of his work and thus attains final peace: the man of disharmony, urged by desire, is attached to his reward and remains in bondage". Don't remain in bondage. Resign.
2) If you are broke and you find something tempting enough to take out your credit card, remind yourself, "Be a warrior and kill desire, the powerful enemy of the soul." Purchase it and kill the desire, that's what a warrior does.
3) "Who everywhere is free from all ties, who neither rejoices nor sorrows if fortune is good or ill, his is a serene wisdom." Never cry while attending a funeral. Be calm and serene. Let people wonder if something is wrong with you.
4) And next time your girlfriend asks you why you didn't buy her anything for her birthday while she did, you gotta teach her a very important lesson, "A gift is pure when it is given from the heart and when we expect nothing in return." Only that you will be taught a much more important lesson and it will also hurt. *ouch*
I couldn't find any lesson to fix my sense of humor. So, let me read through it once again.
