12 Reasons Why You Should Pity Us

Next Saturday, a team of six Times journalists will be running 10k for the Media Trust to raise 1500 pounds sponsorship to help to the charity deliver youth media projects. Now 10k and 1500 pounds might be a relatively simple task for your average bunch of blokes. But not for this bunch of misfits. Here's why you should pity us (and donate accordingly)

    1. Because it's hard enough being a spectator, let alone running

    2. Because attempting to do Punch and Judy without puppets was always going to be a struggle

    3. Because we never quite nailed the Daftpunk impression

    4. Because we've never quite got over coming second in the Dartford Short Shorts competition

    5. Because wearing a rain mack when it's not raining stopped being cool in the 80s

    6. Because it's very hard to recover from wearing an actual dunce's hat

    7. Because Twister without a mat isn't actually fun

    8. Because, even when we're meant to be on holiday, we can't stop thinking about work

    9. Because, even as we got older, we didn't quite nail the Daftpunk impression

    10. Because, when you've been single a long time, anything will do

    11. Because we'll probably end up like this

    12. Because we've already planned the party and you're all invited

As you can see, the fact we've achieved anything with our lives, let alone running 10k, is frankly remarkable.

If you feel a pang of pity, please sponsor us for a few pounds over at our Just Giving page (find us on Twitter for the link). You can find more about what the Media Trust do on their website. And, whether you can spare a few pennies or not, please give our efforts a little tweet and come along to support us on the day.
