Miley Cyrus Opened Up About Her Marriage To Liam Hemsworth And Being Queer In A Heterosexual Relationship

"We're redefining what it looks like for someone that's a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship."

It's good news for Smilers around the world today as Miley Cyrus was just revealed as the latest cover star for Vanity Fair. Let's state facts off the bat — everything about it is stunning.

In the accompanying interview, Miley opened up about why she chose to marry Liam Hemsworth, how their house burning down brought them closer together, and why she believes their relationship redefines what it means for a queer person to be in a heterosexual relationship. Sounds like a lot, right? I guess we better dive ~straight~ in!

You probably already know that Miley and Liam tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last year, a little over a month after their house burned down in the California wildfires. It turns out that tragedy was part of the reason the couple decided to make things official.

"What Liam and I went through together changed us," Miley revealed. "I'm not sure without losing Malibu, we would’ve been ready to take this step or ever even gotten married."

"When you experience what we experienced together with someone, it is like glue," she went on. "You're the only two people in the world who can understand."

After saying that it was "kind of out of character" for her to get married, Miley revealed that she thinks the reason they decided to make things official wasn't old fashioned but instead New Age.

"We're redefining, to be fucking frank, what it looks like for someone that's a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship," she said.

Opening up about her queer identity, Miley continued:

A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I'm in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality.

"Like, who gives a fuck if he’s a guy, if I’m a girl, or if he was a woman — who gives a fuck?" Miley went on. "We really are stronger together. One is the loneliest number."

So, we've come to the end of this post. But, just in case I haven't sucker punched you enough, I'll leave you with one final quote. Take it away Miley: "My relationship is very special to me, it is my home. I feel less misplaced when we are in the same room, no matter where that is."
