Ariana Grande appears to have indirectly responded to claims that Marcus Hyde, a celebrity photographer, offered a free photoshoot to a model in exchange for nude pictures.
The model in question, Sunnaya, recently posted screenshots of an apparent direct message conversation with Hyde. They appear to show the photographer saying that the photoshoot would cost $2000 unless she sent him nude pictures.
Hyde has been a photographer of choice for celebrities in the past, working with the likes of Kim Kardashian West and Ariana Grande.
Following the reports, Grande went on her Instagram story where she made a statement against photographers who “make you uncomfortable or make you feel like you need to take your clothing off”.
“If you want to [take your clothes off], sick,” Grande said. “But if you don’t, please don’t. If they tell you you have to pay more money if you’re clothed that’s fucked and I’m sorry that has happened to you.”
Although Grande didn’t name Hyde in her message, she did make it clear that she was responding to recent “shocking and really heartbreaking stories”.
Ariana’s full statement reads:
Dear models/artists in LA/anywhere,
I have just read some shocking and really heartbreaking stories. I hate that this is a conversation but please do not shoot with photographers who make you uncomfortable or make you feel like you need to take your clothing off if you don’t want to. If you want to, sick. But if you don’t, please don’t. If they tell you you have to pay more money if you’re clothed that’s fucked and I’m sorry that has happened to you. I promise there are so many respectful, nice, talented photographers out there.
I hate hearing about things like this. I am sorry that that was anybody’s experience and know that it doesn’t have to be.
