"It Ruined The Necklace, Burned My Fingers, And Killed My Interior Designer Dreams" – 17 Hilariously Silly Stories From Childhood

"I obviously survived but would not recommend it."

Doing silly things is part of growing up – well, it was for me anyway! Now we're older, it's okay to look back and laugh at the ridiculous things we did, things that must've been a nightmare for our parents, teachers, and guardians to deal with.

So, with people seemingly happy to share their childhood stories on our previous post, here are another 17 of the silliest things people did when they were kids:

    1. "I was playing with those strong magnet earrings in school by putting them on the inside and outside of my nostril and moving them up."

    2. "I used to sleepwalk a lot, but I usually ended up in pretty easy-to-find spots."

    3. "When I was about eight, I decided it would be fun to place a big stone (like 20/30cm big) on the handle end of a spade, then jump on the other end to catapult it."

    4. "When I was five, I figured I should just shave off my fingerprints in case I got in trouble with the law."

    5. "We used to play laser tag in the house running from my brother's room back to my room and jumping over the bed."

    6. "I did the worst thing you could possibly do to a college student, who also happened to be my mother."

    7. "My sister tried to cartwheel down the stairs as a kid."

    8. "My brother and I decided to put plastic Tesco bags over each shoulder and parachute jump off of our bunk bed."

    9. "In elementary school, I had to do a science fair experiment."

    10. "I was 12 and my brother was nine when my mom let me and him come home after school without a babysitter for the first time."

    11. "I decided to see how far up my nose I could insert a cherry stone. Turns out, too far".

    12. "I put some garlic knots in the microwave, but I was too young to know how things like time and numbers worked, so I put them in for 99 minutes and set the microwave on fire."

    13. "I decided to chew on a glow stick and break it open so my teeth would be shiny."

    14. "When I was three or four, I wanted to decorate the house and make it pretty because my parents were having people over."

    15. "I ran under a moving train."

    16. "My mom told me I had to eat all my green beans in order to get dessert, so I decided to hide one... up my nostril. That was an ER visit."

    17. "My little sis – who was like three – locked me, my brother, and our babysitter in my bedroom (it was the '90s, and our bedrooms locked out in the hall)."
