After A Shocking Lipsync, The Winner Of "Canada's Drag Race" Season 2 Was Announced... And We Can't Get Over It

    Last night was the season finale of Canada's Drag Race. And although I didn't attend a watch party like years past, I did make myself one (maybe two, maybe three) espresso martinis to sip on to celebrate.

    Without further ado, and for the last time this year— here are 16 moments from the spectacular crowning episode that made my neighbours probably say "okay... why is that girl yelling again?":

    1. The queens call out Kendall's bodysuit collection.

    TBH it takes an amazing queen to pack so many bodysuits and still make it to the Top 3. 

    2. Rupaul says "Sickening Supply of Beauty Products From Shoppers' Drug Mart" one last time.

    Pour an espresso martini out for the greatest sponsor of all time. (For the record, no I am not also sponsored by Shoppers even though I have mentioned them literally every ru-cap. It's called manifesting, EVER HEARD?). 

    3. The queens break tradition with the final girl group performance.

    They learn they're not performing a Rupaul song, they're performing a Brooke Lynn Hytes song. To me... this is powerful. 

    4. The Top 3 have to direct a photoshoot with last season’s winner of Canada’s Drag Race.

    I forget her name, I think it's Peronka maybe. 

    5. Something we love about Kendall Gender is that she is unafraid to reference or not reference.

    6. Sure, the internet is filled to the brim with drag queen web series/ podcasts—

    But I really think Icesis and Priyanka need to hop on it stat. Canada can have their own Trixie and Katya... as a treat. 

    7. Pythia processing the choreo is how I’m looking at the queens in these BOOTS.

    I’m basically wearing a one inch heel to a wedding this weekend and already shaking, crying, screaming, throwing up thinking about it.

    These superstar queens talk about how drag has changed their lives and I beamed while watching. 

    I think a huge reason this season felt so refreshing to watch was because all of the contestants felt so genuinely authentic and full of joy in a way that has perhaps been lacking in recent Drag Race seasons. And this is not to drag any franchise (pun obviously intended, helloooo), but CDR2 is a good lesson in trusting the queens and giving them space to tell their own stories and showcase their own talents— without the heavy hand of production that we’ve been accustomed to the past few years. 

    I live for this season, and it is at this moment I poured a third espresso martini and realized I actually did not CARE WHO WINS! 

    14. The final lipsync is to the best Celine Dion song of all time: "It's All Coming Back To Be Now". Gag.
