Whether you're into the tangy flavors of the South-West or trying to impress your friends by eating the hottest wings, nothing is as diverse as the flavors of the hot sauce. To celebrate the 4th annual New York City Hot Sauce Expo that will be taking place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn this weekend, I've asked the guys from Spotify's Spice Girls Club (a group of people that loves to feel the burn) to partake in a blind taste test of what's hot and what's not.

Spotify's "Spice Girls Club" takes the lickin' but keeps on tickin.'

The Verdict: Tangy Mildness

Hotness: 2 out of 10

Most remarked was that this sharp lime sauce would be good with Mexican cuisine, fish, and salads.

The Verdict: Hot & Sweet

Hotness: 3.5 out of 10

A hot yet settling sweetness. Most of the group suggested this sauce for chicken, rice and beans, sandwiches, fish tacos, and Indian food.

The Verdict: Fiery Smoke

Hotness: 8 out of 10

Everyone leaned towards meals like bbq meats, grilled vegetables, fried chicken, goat, and tofu.

The Verdict: Blazing Mustard

Hotness: 8 out of 10

This limited anniversary hot sauce for Heatonist created "tears of joy" for The Spice Girls Club, making this Szechuan concoction ideal for pretzels, fried chicken, chicken tikka, and fish dishes.

The Verdict: Tart With Heat

Hotness: 8 out of 10

Surprise! I added one of my mum's signature hot sauces which one of the tasters declared" the delayed heat is amazing." The consensus was this lime-like hot sauce would go well with sandwiches, chicken wings, curry, souvlaki, kebabs, and even a stew.
