The 10 Definitive Best Guest Stars On "The Nanny"

The Nanny was known for Fran Drescher's voice, style, physical comedy, Sound of Music premise, and its guest stars. Anybody who was anybody in the 90s stopped by the show. They had style, they had flare; that's how they made it on The Nanny!

1. Bette Midler

The Divine Miss M starred as herself at a Broadway charity auction. After Fran ruins the career of a child piano prodigy, his father cancels a hefty check going towards Midler's charity. Best part of her guest star? Telling Fran to run and chasing her throughout the Sheffield mansion.

2. Marvin Hamlisch

Marvin Hamlisch plays not himself, but an old high school music teacher of Fran's that looks uncannily like Marvin Hamlisch. A short, but sweet cameo for one of the music industry's finest.

3. Ray Barone (Romano)

Playing tribute to the fact that both Ray Romano and Fran Drescher went to Hill Crest High School together, Ray Barone (Romano's character from Everybody Loves Raymond) and Fran Fine meet up at a high school reunion.

4. Elton John

After a bad run-in with Elton John (that was caught on film), Fran must disguise herself in Yetta's clothing so he doesn't recognize her. Why does this matter so much? Because she's on her first official date with Mr. Sheffield!

5. Ray Charles

Ray Charles visited the show a few times in its last couple of seasons playing Yetta's boyfriend. The frisky couple are always hilarious with her confused thoughts and his blindness. They were a match made in heaven.

6. Lamb Chop/Shari Lewis

Fran is put in charge of CC's dog, Chester, while Shari Lewis is visiting. The result? Lamb Chop gets eaten!

7. Pamela Anderson

Playing the part of Heather Biblow, Fran's rival from high school, Pamela Anderson stole some of the male attention away from Fran. She steals her ex-boyfriend, Danny, and after he dies she lands a part on a soap opera. When Fran steals her part on the show, Heather takes her place in the house. I bet Brighton still misses her...

8. Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart plays the part of Fran's Jewish doctor cousin... Only they don't know that they are cousins. So after going on a few dates they are horrified to find out at a family wedding they are related. There's also a fantastic rip off of Dynasty in this episode! Soooo 90s.

9. Fran Drescher's Family

Okay, so they weren't exactly famous, but they made excellent guests! Both came on to play Fran's aunt and uncle. Additionally, CC's dog, Chester, was actually Fran's dog in real life. No wonder he seemed to hate CC and love Fran!

10. Fran Drescher

Fran Drescher herself makes a couple of short appearances! In the penultimate episode of the series Fran Fine runs into Fran Drescher in a Hollywood hotel. She then confuses her for Marisa Tomei. It should also be said that Fran Drescher revised her role of Bobbi Fleckman from This Is Spinal Tap!
