NYC duo The Como Brothers Band deliver pop, indie rock and a little funk with their new full length album "Baby Steps". Their 12 new tracks incorporate light hearted pop lyrics that sometimes have a taste of blues grit and other times funky horn lines. Personally, I think a song is always better with horns so no surprise that I love their track "Gotta Be True". The vocals tend to be shaky at times but that funky vibe is so good that I will wholeheartedly ignore that small detail. These guys may not be vocally trained in the classical sense but man they can croon!
Their songs are feel good diddies that remind me of Gavin DeGraw, The Script and even some early Maroon 5. Take a listen to "Straight Face" below and you will see how their music makes you smile. These guys totally remind me of that archetypal friend of your little brother. That sweet best friend of his that you would totally date if he was just 10 years older. Oh well. I'll just put their album on repeat and pretend I'm a sophmore in college again.
A fairly new band, The Como Brothers started in 2010 but they have come pretty far in the past three years. These early twenty-somethings opened for The Wallflowers and showcased music on E! Entertainment's 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians". Plus they are set to perform at Port Jefferson Music Festival on October 12 and New York City Marathon on November 3rd. Geez. What did you do today?
Currently you can purchase their new album "Baby Steps" on iTunes or CD Baby. Still unsure if you are totally into it the vibe? Then contrast "Straight Face" to "Late Nights" below and you will hear the healthy balance of blues and pop in their repertoire. You can keep up with The Como Brothers Band tour dates and new videos by following them on twitter, liking them on facebook
