Canadian blues artist, Grant Lyle has created the best music video, EVER. The literal image association to the lyrics results in monkeys, spiderwebs, graveyards and a (most likely unintentional) tribute to Australia's ANZAC Day. The video is so horrifically awesome I managed to miss out on the music entirely. So after a third replay, maybe fourth but who's counting, I can say the tunes aren't as bad as you would expect from this green screened video gem.

Grant Lyle is a good blues guitarist and most of his songs do, how does Hooker say? Oh yeah, that moanin' and groanin'. Personally I am more of a blues traditionalist so I like my tracks gritty, depressing and soulful. Lyle's recent album "So There", delivers some grit on tracks like "Trouble Blues" but he also explores different spaces in the blues genre.
"So There" has 3 different tracks found on the album. Gritty instrumentals like "Trouble Blues", experimenting instrumentals like "Impressions" and vocal based tracks leaning towards a blues/country vibe. "Impressions" uses strange space sounds amid classic blues licks, producing an experimental sound different from classic blues artists. The electronics make the track trippy and remind me of a jam band or music festival. Changing the sound again are the vocal based tracks dominating the album. Lyle's vocals tend to distract from the blues sound, mostly because Lyle's voice can't compete with the soul his guitar produces.
