1. You like soccer

Of course, the soccer is a main selling point. The best of the best female soccer stars will be in one place, fighting for a title unlike any other. The United States Women have won two World Cup Championships; the first one was in 1991, followed by the iconic 1999 win with the dream team including Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Julie Foudy. The current USA team will have to prove themselves to be stronger than 23 other countries including the reigning champions from 2011, Japan.

2. To see the USA’s road to redemption

The 2011, USA versus Japan, World Cup final match alone should be enough to make any American want to turn on the TV in 2015. After the 90-minutes of regulation and overtime left the teams tied 2-2, the championship would be decided in a penalty shootout. The United States lost in a fashion that many of the players admit still haunts them to this day. Now, four years later, they are back and ready to make sure they never have to feel that way again. Turning on the World Cup is not only a way to show support for our country, but also a chance to witness the USA’s road to redemption that was left unfinished since 2011.

3. It’s Abby’s Last Chance

Abby Wambach has the most World Cup goals of any player in USA history, but has never won a World Cup. This will be her third and final World Cup.

4. Alex Morgan is your girl

Alex Morgan has become perhaps the prettiest face of US Women’s Soccer; if they ever thought about hiring a model…they no longer need one. Luckily, she can play soccer too but it’s no stretch to say that some people might consider turning on the TV just to watch her.

5. Hope Solo Might Hit Someone

Let's not forget about Hope Solo. Despite recently facing some assault charges, it is safe to say she is still one of the best goalies in the game…so let’s “hope” she can get her act together for this World Cup or at the very least provide some entertainment.

6. To Support Feminism

The Women’s World Cup supports feminism; Abby and the other members of the US Women’s team want more women to be able to play professional sports as their career without having to have a second job. “I want to leave the game better than I found it,” said Abby Wambach in a Time Magazine Video Feature. “If I’m irrelevant in 40 or 50 years then I know my time was well spent.” This is because hopefully, into the future, women’s soccer will continue to develop and produce even more legendary players like Abby.

7. "I believe that we will win."

The final reason to turn on the World Cup is simple: it’s because, if nothing else, it will be exciting and because this year, as the popular US National Team chant goes, “I believe that we will win,” not just one or two games, but the entire thing.
