Everyone's A SUCKER For Charli XCX

Charli XCX is kicking ass and taking names, and SUCKER is no exception.

    The answer is everyone, apparently.

You may recognize Charli XCX from two of the biggest hits from the past few years, co-writing and singing on Icona Pop's "I Love It" and Iggy Azalea's "Fancy". What you might not know—but will soon come to realize—is that Charli XCX is a powerhouse that deserves all of the spotlight as a stand-alone star.

SUCKER, the second album from XCX, is receiving plenty of attention. Rolling Stone recently featured SUCKER as #1 on their "20 Best Pop Albums of 2014" list, Billboard gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars, and Entertainment Weekly gave it an A-. The praise is well-deserved—Charli is an incredible performer with a badass personality to match. She has a distinctive sound that is completely unique and the perfect mix of pop, punk, grunge, and lots of girl power.

An album that Rolling Stone best describes as "loud, fun, and ridiculously catchy", SUCKER definitely packs a punch. As USA Today describes, "imagine a pop landscape where the music keeps its obsession with status and glamour but picks up on punk's simplistic beats, burying the guitars beneath brassy synthesizer hooks. That's SUCKER." The musical diversity makes it clear that SUCKER has a little bit of something for everyone. Track by track, you can hear influences from girl bands such as the Spice Girls as well as classics like Blondie and The Ramones.

The new album has kept Charli busy with interviews and performances on talk shows, awards shows and, most recently, Saturday Night Live. Just like her music, everything about her performance style is completely one of a kind. As she sings about her pop star life, its hard to tell if she's mocking that lifestyle or reveling in it. She's having her cake and eating it, too.

According to Rolling Stone, SUCKER is a "dance party, a mosh pit, and a feminist rally — Charli's definitely in charge." If you're late to the Charli party, now's the time to jump on board. iTunes predicted that 2015 will be the "Year of Charli XCX", and we agree. One listen through SUCKER will have you realizing that Charli XCX doesn't only break the rules, she shatters them.

SUCKER is available everywhere today. Download on iTunes, stream on Spotify, and start a dance party with your friends as soon as possible.
