Pressure Put On Teenage Girls
Young girls are put under a lot of pressure to be skinny, fit, pretty and hairless.
Pressure put on teenage girls:
From a young age, girls are pressured to be many things; pretty, fit, skinny and much more. Some might argue that teenagers have a choice, and that they can choose how they act or the way the live. However, young girls face peer pressure by social media and their friends.
From as young as the age of 10, some girls start to be interested in makeup. At 13, some are wearing mascara, eyeliner, blush, foundation and eyeshadow. Some girls even feel like they cannot be seen in public without a full face of makeup because they are so self conscious.
Others don't wear as much makeup, but feel the need to be skinny and have flat stomachs since they are raised watching models on television who are skinny beyond belief and they look up to older siblings who diet to keep their body petite. They are so used to thinking that the ideal body is extremely skinny, that they start to diet from the age of 13. Some think that they have to have a petite waist, but be curvy. They don't understand that this kind of body is unachievable.
Others are concerned with being hairless, and they don't enjoy summer because summer means smaller clothes and hairless bodies. They don't go to the swimming pool because they think that the swimsuits are too revealing and that people will judge them. They start obsessing over their looks because of peer pressure.
Sometime, someone close to the girl would have told them that they are ugly, they have too much acne, they are fat or they are too hairy. This makes them self conscious and they judge themselves every time they look in the mirror.
The problem with our society is that it pressures young girls to be perfect and obsess over their looks earlier than they should. Girls are pressured by the people they call friends, the media which only displays the ideal image of young girls and they are even pressured by themselves to look perfect. The problem with young girls is that they have an idealistic idea of what they should look like and it stops them from just being kids.
Instead of obsessing over all of these things, they should look in the mirror and find out what they like about themselves, not what they hate.
