10 Reasons Working Retail Is Actually Awesome

We have all been there. While working retail can suck if you really dig deep it has it's perks.

1. You typically get a killer discount on the product you sell

Who can beat cost plus 5% at Best Buy? Really though.

2. You make some of your closest friends working retail.

Let's face it. Most of the people you work with are in the same boat as you are. Young, unexperienced, in school...they face the same struggles you do every day. You see these people more than your own family more often than not.

3. It teaches you patience

Or at least how to fake it anyways.

4. It teaches you the value of a dollar

Often times this is your first job. You finally understand what "work" is and what it takes to pay for stuff you want. This ain't no baby sitting or snow cone making BS. This is the real deal. Punch in, Punch out, direct deposit, 401K all that fun stuff.

5. You gain people skills

Before working retail you don't really know how to talk to strangers or deal with adversity. Usually. Working retail teaches you that...and how not to judo chop someone in the throat who pisses you off.

6. During the Holidays you can in fact "save" Christmas for some people

"Oh, you wanted the super special item EVERYONE wanted this Holiday season? Lucky for you I have ONE left!"

7. You aren't stuck behind a desk all day

THERE'S SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!

8. Your hours are often sporadic so you never get bored with your schedule

Sure, routine is nice, but do your 9-5 friends get to sleep till noon ON A TUESDAYYY? No they don't.

9. They work around your school schedule (If you're in school)

You have class from when to when?! No no no.

10. You get to see and laugh at some of the weirdest people ever

What in the actual f*ck? HAHAHAHA
