How To Survive The Music Festival Season
From what to bring to how to save a bit of money, here are 26 ways to survive the music festival season!
.Wear sun cream – trust us when we say that prevention is better than the cure (especially at a festival when you'll spend most of your time outside)
.Bring baby wipes – for some they’re the closest thing to a shower for the whole weekend, for others they’re makeup remover. Either way – every single person at a festival will find a use for baby wipes!
.Dry shampoo – because it is likely that you won’t be able to shower for a few days. At least you can have fresh hair!
.Sunglasses – this is a bit of an obvious one, but they’re a summer staple
.Bring a light raincoat (or use a makeshift one) – we’re still in Britain after all!
.Wellies too! It can get pretty muddy...
.Hand warmers can make the evenings more comfortable on cold nights.
.Pick up some techniques on how to make your phone battery last longer as there won't be many opportunities to charge it!
.Bring bin bags – the amount of rubbish a campsite can generate is shocking! Bin bags are vital!
.Have a meeting point in case you lose your friends. Festivals often have thousands of people, and signal is usually very limited – always have a backup plan just in case!
.Opt for disposable cameras over your phone or digital cameras
.Occasionally check the twitter hashtags about the festival for any act updates, or for problems that could happen
.Consider bum bags – the famously safe way to keep your valuables at festivals
.But don’t keep all your money in one place – be creative! Hollow out an old chap stick and keep some money there
.If the festival has an app download it! It could have maps, line ups, or general information but either way it’s gonna be useful
.If you buy a bottled drink make sure that you keep the bottle with you and refill it when you find a water pump – this will save you heaps of money!
.Additionally bring your own bottle caps with you – they usually confiscate them so that people don’t throw the bottles
.Bring your own toilet paper
.Keep hand sanitizer on hand at all times! You never know when you’ll really need it
.Make your tent easier to find, e.g. make a flag or decorate your tent– this will save you hours of time at somewhere like Glastonbury where the campsites are huge!
.Try and find a line up online before you arrive at the festival so that you can get organized earlier
.If they don’t publish it online early, save money by taking pictures of the program when you’re there
.It is possible that you could get a bargain by trying to get food as the food stalls close when the music has finished playing. Some of the food will need to be eaten so try and haggle the prices down and get some cheap meals.
.Keep hairbands on hand if you can – you never know when they can come in use
.If you’re aiming to get to the front of the stage, it’s easier to try and sneak in through the sides rather than going through the middle
.Finally, bring earplugs! They protect your ears from the noise, and can help you sleep better at night
