    International Simulation: AIDS

What are Iran and other countries doing to combat the effects of AIDS and HIV?

In Venezuela, only 11000 people infected with AIDS are treated out of the 400000. The hospitals are also unhygienic, the beds are old and hard and the patients are dangerously malnourished.

In 2010, 29,000 French citizens displayed HIV-like symptoms but remained undiagnosed and received no medical care.

Iran’s issue is that majority of people do not realize they have HIV or AIDS. It is commonly transmitted through drugs and sexual acts. Unfortunately, the Iranian government has done nothing to prevent it thus far.

Saudi Arabia is secretive about their AIDS problem. Disease-related statistics are in envelopes and locked away safely. Citizens that are infected by sexual-transmission are too scared to receive treatment for the fear of being judged on their sexuality.

Greece removed various fruitful HIV programs because of budget cuts, along with useful needle trade programs for addicts. By the end of 2010, HIV/AIDS diseases in Athens alone heightened by 1500%.

Nigeria is the most AIDS-infected country in Africa. It is transmitted through unsterile needles in hospitals and by reusing them on multiple patients. Their government does not provide citizens with the resources to treat or prevent the disease.

428 people were diagnosed with AIDS in Israel in 2011, 5000 in total currently. Those diagnosed either died or left the country. Many infected immigrants from Ethiopia were not given the opportunity to receive proper treatment.

Less than a percentage of Egypt's population is AIDS-infected but their improper use of protection during sexual intercourse puts them at a dangerously high-risk of an outbreak, which they are currently unprepared for.

For the past decade, Russia's AIDS problem has been growing exponentially. They are enduring the most rapidly-growing AIDS epidemic to date, yet there are no precautions being taken to slow this process down & no effort to determine a legitimate solution.

Colombia has only now began to fix their AIDS problem. Why has it taken them so long to realize that something bigger has to change? Why did this country allow so many people to suffer and die before making a change?

North Korea is very secretive about AIDS in their country. If they were doing anything to ensure the health and safety of their citizens or to find a solution, wouldn’t they make it publicly known? Only the guilty have something to hide.

1 in 5 people living with AIDS in the UK are unaware. Specialist care is given to 53% of Caucasians, 33% of black Africans, 3% black Caribbean, 2% Indians, 2% Asian. Should the declining number of ethnic groups getting treatment be a concern?

Over the last 20 years, Germany has apparently taken care of AIDS in their country but they are now neglecting other STD's. What if they neglected AIDS the way they neglected other diseases? Does this country really care about their citizens?
