Who is Banks?

Jillian Banks, aka Banks, started writing songs at the young age of 15 in California. Since then, Banks has completely grown as an artist. She has toured with The Weeknd and has played at various festivals. Banks' music has such a cool vibe that can't be explained through words, you just have to hear her and you'll feel it. Not only is her voice unique and amazing, but the production on the majority of her songs from her debut album, Goddess, is NEXT LEVEL. For those reasons and many more, Banks is this week's VIP artist.

1. GODDESS

Goddess is the title track from Banks' debut album, and it is probably one of my favorite songs from her. I LOVE the production on this song. So next level.

2. WAITING GAME

Waiting Game was actually the first Banks song that I ever heard, and it led me to get hooked on her music. The sound of this song is so different from what you might be used to or what you might expect (ESPECIALLY if you have good speakers). Wait for that beat to hit, it will change your life.

3. ARE YOU THAT SOMEBODY

Ok. Last but not least is this AMAZING cover of Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody". This was a very tough choice, because she does so many BEAUTIFUL covers (What You Need, Na Na...etc...I highly recommend you check those out). She puts such a cool twist on the song. Banks just has this amazing darkness about her voice and her vibe which is incredible. Plus, her overall sound gets compared to Aaliyah, so it is fitting to pick this cover for you.

Like I said, Banks opened for The Weeknd on his "The Madness" fall tour. Banks has also performed at various music festivals such as Bonaroo and Coachella. She has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel and Late Night with Seth Myers for her debut album. Banks has a dark, eeriness about her that is so intriguing. Her quiet persona is hidden by her powerful voice when she performs. There is a degree of mysteriousness about her, which I love. Banks has sold out shows on her tour, and that was without a hit single! She is crazy talented and it will be interesting to see her career continue to take off whenever she decides to release a new album (still waiting............)

Banks' music is sooooo slept on. Her entire album is strong from start to finish. She sings flawlessly live. She is dark and mysterious. She opened for The Weeknd. She has dope beats. She does incredible covers. She can hit high notes while also maintaining a raspiness in her voice. (Must I go on?...)

For these reasons and many, many more, I rate Banks:
