It will never cease to amaze me how much self abuse the United States must endure in order to grow as a Democracy. Some might think that the constant bickering and inability to agree on anything is a sign of the decline of the Nation while I like to think that despite the chaos and at times mind numbing lack of rational thought it’s all part of the growing pains of a Country which in truth is still very young. Or at least I hope that’s what’s happening. On the other hand I could be naive and the end of the World will soon be upon us. Perhaps it should be Democrazy instead of Democracy.
SLIPPERY SLOPE
The arguments against Same Sex Marriage have always amazed me in their level of insane creativity. Proposing that if Gay and Lesbian people get married it will result in the destruction of civilization or the collapse of straight relationships is pure nonsense that almost seems sane once people start talking about how it will lead to Humans marrying Farm Animals, domestic pets or inanimate objects. And by almost I mean a little less insane. Now that DOMA has been defeated I can report that my very straight marriage seems to be intact. Nothing bad has happened....yet. Nor do I expect it to. Stay tooned for further developments.
THE GREAT ORATOR
The ability of some members of the Republican Party to say some of the most ignorant, Racist, Sexist and Homophobic things is astounding. It is also truly amazing that once they have been shown the errors of their ways and seem like they might have a clue they double down and say even worse things. My advise is simple, stop talking about things you have no knowledge of. It's probably far to simple a solution but it doesn't hurt to try.

I HOPE THEY CAN RECOVER THEIR LOSSES…OH WAIT A MINUTE THE AVENGERS MADE ENOUGH MONEY TO RUN A COUNTRY CERTAINLY THEY CAN USE SOME OF THAT CASH. THEN AGAIN YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU ARE A FAMILY TRYING TO COME UP WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO VISIT ONE OF THE PARKS.

THIS HAS DEFINITELY NOT BEEN ONE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA’S BETTER WEEKS. WITH THAT SAID IT REALLY HASN’T BEEN A GOOD WEEK FOR ANYONE IN WASHINGTON D.C. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE CONTINUED TO SHOW JUST HOW PETTY AND OUTRIGHT RACIST SOME OF THEM CAN BE AND HAVE CONTINUED TO TRY TO MAKE ANYTHING THE PRESIDENT OR HIS PEOPLE ARE INVOLVED IN LOOK AS IF IT WERE THE WORST THING ANY ADMINISTRATION HAS EVER DONE. ALTHOUGH THE PRESIDENT ISN’T DIRECTLY INVOLVED WITH THE CURRENT PERFECT STORM OF GOVERNMENT CRISIS’S AS MUCH AS THE CONSPIRACY CROWD MIGHT LIKE HIM TO BE HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHOWING THAT HE ISN’T A WEAK LEADER AND EVEN AS A FAN OF THE MAN I CAN SAY WHEN IT COMES TO STANDING UP FOR HIMSELF WHEN FALSE ACCUSATIONS ARE THROWN AT HIM HE DOESN’T DO ENOUGH. HE ALSO NEEDS TO BE JUST A TAD BIT BETTER INFORMED THAN FINDING OUT WHAT’S GOING ON FROM THE EVENING NEWS. I DON’T THINK IN THE LONG RUN THAT THIS PAST WEEK WILL DEFINE HIS SECOND TERM BUT IT DOESN’T HELP.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TEACHER
Anyone who has spent anytime in a classroom recently knows that a Teacher must be all things to everyone. It is unfortunate that there are some in this Country who continue to perpetuate the myth that Teachers are not important and even go as far as to say they have easy lives with Summers off. I propose that if people believe that being a Teacher is an easy profession they take time to see what the truth is. There should be a program in which businesses set aside time for their employees to help out in Schools for more than just a brief afternoon in which most of the time they don't see children as they truly are in a normal day. The chaos of a classroom, Parents who fail to be involved or are to involved in their children's lives, the administrative regulations, lack of supplies and quality Schools are just a few of the challenges that face those we expect to educate our Children. If we really care about their futures we should do everything we can to help those who Teach them have what they need to do the job.

Filling a 24 hour cable News Channel with enough information to justify it's existence can at times verge on the absurd. Once they get to the point where they are reporting on themselves and how they were affected by the events that they were sent to report on in the first place it might be time for you to rethink your viewing habits. Unless of course your sitting around waiting to be interviewed about how you feel about what you are watching.

RUSSIA AND CHINA FAILING TO SUPPORT SANCTIONS AGAINST SYRIA DOES MORE TO ADD TO THE PROBLEM THAN IT DOES TO HELP. AGREEING TO DISAGREE IS ONE THING BUT DOING NOTHING TO PREVENT A LEADER FROM MURDERING HIS OWN PEOPLE JUST TO BE CONTRARY VERGES ON BEING GUILTY OF MURDER BY ASSOCIATION. NOT THAT THE U.S HAS DONE A GREAT DEAL TO STOP THE ATROCITIES ITSELF OTHER THAN PURSUING A DIPLOMATIC APPROACH, WHICH SEEMS A BIT SELF DEFEATING AND OF COURSE VARIOUS COVERT MEANS.
