Even with the noblest of intentions intervening between two feuding parties be it a Family or a Nation can only end badly for you. Families tend to stick together despite their differences whenever an outside party tries to resolve a conflict and the same holds true for Nations like Syria. Problems of any scale are best resolved by the individuals involved. Even if the do look like they will destroy themselves in the process. When ever an outsider tries to impose their ideas without taking into consideration the complexities of the situation it usually only makes things worse. Of course sometimes you have to intervene when it looks like the dispute might effect not only the parties involved but anyone or any Nation that is near by. In that case it's best to do it quickly and with a minimum amount of damage. The key is to find a solution that somehow convinces both parties involved that they were the ones who compromised the least. Then if all else fails you can always fall back on the old standard and just bomb everyone back to the stone age. it may not solve the situation but for a brief moment there is a small bit of satisfaction in knowing that the problem will eventually have to be dealt with again only by someone else long after your gone.
