That’s giving it way too much credit. It is just a tired, old design given a new name so people think it is controversial and buy it. But if they can’t see through such flimsy strategy and they fall for it then they deserved to be ripped off! I’m sure if such a fuss wasn’t made over this, it would have failed to sell and be removed from shelves for that reason alone.
When I look at the costume, without considering its name, I don’t see anorexia. I see a skeleton, like looking at an x-ray. It doesn’t look like an emaciated person and I think it was an attempt to be outrageous, but the makers/ designers it really missed the mark. Or maybe the name was an after-thought to make an unoriginal design seem more interesting.
