7 Actors Who May Or May Not Be Twins

Tatiana Maslany stars as several characters in Orphan Black-a performance that must involve some sort of witchcraft. Here are seven other actors whose performances involve witchcraft editing and/or having a twin.

1. Julie Andrews

Okay, so no one actually thinks Julie Andrews is a twin. There can only ever be one Dame Julie Andrews, practically perfect in every way, obviously. But in the first episode of the Julie Andrews Hour, she, as Julie Andrews, got caught in an argument with Eliza Doolittle and Mary Poppins, two of her most iconic roles, over who is the most superior. And then they sang Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious together because isn't that why TV magic exists?

2. Lindsay Lohan

How many are there, really?: One actress who taught 90s kids about acting and editing

Lindsay Lohan was introduced to the world in The Parent Trap as twins, Annie James and Hallie Parker. If you were a 90s kid you absolutely had an earthshattering moment where you learned she was not, in fact, a couple of adorable twins breaking into Hollywood together. And that feeling of betrayal/confusion/reconsidering-everything-you-ever-knew-to-be-true will follow you for the rest of your life.

3. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, there was Michelle Tanner, famously played by real fraternal twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to cope with child labor laws. Part of being a Full House fan meant coming to terms with the fact that this wasn't one little girl with kind of an unfortunate name (they were credited as "Mary Kate Ashley Olsen"), but two separate girls who would rule the screen and possibly your life for the next decade or so.

4. Armie Hammer and Josh Pence

How many are there, really?: Two actors plus kind of creepy editing

This one is probably the most unsettling entry in this list because of how this role was accomplished. The role is technically played by two separate actors, Armie Hammer and Josh Pence. But instead of playing fraternal twins, they just straight up grafted Armie Hammer's face onto Josh Pence's body, because apparently they can do that. They do use split screen in some scenes, like many other one-actor-plays-twins projects, but in many scenes what you see is literally a frankentwin of Josh Pence's body with Armie Hammer's face.

5. Tatiana Maslany

Roles: Sarah Manning, Cosima Niehaus, Alison Hendrix, Helena, Rachel Duncan, etc.

How many are there, really?: Only one but there must be witchcraft involved

It's hard to describe what Tatiana Maslany does without spoiling the show, but basically she plays several very different characters in the same show, oftentimes acting opposite multiple versions of herself (seen above, Tatiana Maslany talks to Tatiana Maslany while another Tatiana Maslany pours her a drink because logic is no longer a construct that exists). Being in the Clone Club (the name for the fandom) means spending a lot of time just yelling HOW DOES YOUR FACE LOOK SO DIFFERENT IT IS THE SAME FACE.
