give her grace

for the human race

it once was safe

to be a child

now violence and confusion

is running wild

for the parents, teachers and community

of Sandy Hook

recovery from your enduring pain may be slow

but let it be said that on that day we stood as one

Will our legacy be told

that gun violence is out of control

will our future unfold

sorrowful mothers, fathers

with few children to hold

For a nation so great

for God's sake

let us all take, and carry

the shame and blame

but let's reassure our children

that it won't happen again.
