Yeah, this might be the most basic tip, but don't over look it. Check the weather a week ahead and the night before you leave. Pack combat boots, a poncho, and sandwich bags to waterproof your electronics if it's going to rain. Bring a sweater to tie around your waste if it gets cold at night and BONUS you can also use it as a blanket for the grass. Trust me, packing more is best.

Shoes are key to making or breaking your day.

Think about it - you're in a crowd of people jumping around all day. Wouldn't your trusted Vans sound better than your new wedges? And if it rains, don't think of anything else other than boots unless you want to cover your feet with last week's bag from Seamless.

Your backpack is your best friend AND your body guard.

Pack your backpack with the essentials.

Bring a water bottle to get that *free* water.

You just paid $250 for your ticket, why pay another $5 for water?!? Most festivals let you bring an empty or factory-sealed water bottle to their *free* filling stations. Stay hydrated, my friends.

Create a Plan of Attack for each day.

A music festival is half party, half battle. So you need a strategy for a winning weekend. This includes making your lineup schedule, planning food/bathroom breaks, and studying the map so you know what amenities are closest. Because in the end, it's about catching all your artists AND having a spot where you can see them.

Almost every major festival has an app now. It usually includes a map of the grounds, list of food vendors, and a tool to create an artist line-up with alerts. They're also made for offline use because... I have perfect service ... said no one at a festival EVER.

Choose your fest squad wisely.

It's always awesome to go with your best friends, but consider inviting some friends with the same music taste as you. PLUS if you have more people, you could split the cost of a weekend locker to store jackets or larger bags.

Put your phone on airplane mode.

Since your service is going to be shotty, might as well save as much battery as possible so long as everyone is still traveling together. IN CASE you do lose a member, pick out a meeting spot near a food vendor or an art piece at the beginning of the festival.

When trying to reach the front of the stage or exit, use the sides.

One of the unwritten rules to GA concerts is to follow the highway of people moving on the sides of the crowd. You will get to where you want quicker and less painful if you move with the flow.

Flags are an easy way to spot your friends in crowds of 100,000 partiers. Lead your squad with the dopest flag out there. Perhaps Game of Thrones will adopt it for a new house - since everyone else is gone (RIP House of Tyrell.)
