Utility Worker Dives Head First Into Dirty Water, Is More Dedicated Than All Of Us

And we complain when the coffee runs out.

Not all heroes wear capes, but some are covered in filth.

Texas resident Andrea Adams can confirm this statement. She called Action Municipal Utility District to fix a broken water line in her yard, and she saw how above and beyond an employee can go.

During the job, Adams went outside to check on utility worker Jimmie Cox to find that he was waist deep in water. He had went down five feet to try to plug the burst pipe. Truly a woman of our time, Adams snapped a photo and posted it on Facebook.

A fascinating – and a little gross – sight, it quickly went viral.

"I posted the photo to Facebook, and within two hours, people in Brazil were commenting," Adams told local news station WFAA. She even shut down her Facebook account due to the notifications.

Cox has seen some of that viral fame as well, receiving messages asking what he was doing.

According to him, though, it was all routine. He had taken the job to get a bit of overtime; when he saw the leak spouting everywhere in Adams' yard, he took action. "In this line of work, people do it a lot," Cox told WFAA.

Adams was grateful Cox arrived and took care of the leak. "I'm real proud of him," she said.

    Frankly, so are we.

    We salute you, Jimmie Cox!
