Why Bullets Are Better Than Words

Words, a compilation of alphabets, which when beautifully stringed can tug the heart strings, soothe the strained nerves and engage the tear ducts. Yes, words well placed can be a musical symphony, a lyrical beauty and a creative masterpiece. Nonetheless, the same words can break your heart into a million pieces and you will require a lifetime of labor to put them back together. The words can hit you in the smallest corners of your body and suck the every emotion in the most evil manner. Yes, the callous words uttered in whichever manner, soft or treacherous can do more harm than a bullet fired at you at a point blank range. I know this may sound crazy, controversial and insane to many people out there but the truth is that a bullet shot fired once or multiple times can give you the most gruesome pain for sometime but the pain won't last long because the hands of death will embrace you before you can even utter Oh God! Assuming that is what most people say before they cuddle the eternity. However, ruthless it may seem but compare the situation with an endless barrage of direct venomous words or carefully crafted lethal sentences aimed at you. The effects are equally painful but the result is not the same. The person at the receiving end may not die but the baggage and the paraphernalia that comes along with the message can be gut wrenching for days, months or years to come. To quote a song" It is only words and words are all I have to take your heart away". Let me rephrase this a bit " It is only and words are all that I need to take your life away". The words are powerful elements of speech, they resonate in the mind every time and have the capacity of dismembering an individual's soul much the same way an old building is pulled down by explosives. The analogy may be mismatched or absurd but for some people it may strike a chord. The inventions and technological advances have built bullet proof gears, bullet proof cars and maybe in future a skin lotion will be potent enough to stop a bullet. Yes technology and the people associated with it can do crazy things. Nonetheless, where is the word proof jacket for the soul, where is that all soothing balm which prevents you from falling apart by the scathing damages of spoken or written words. This piece may seem ridiculous but remember the statement " The pen is mightier than a sword". The quote was said in some other conquest but the same can be relevant here. The pen is only mightier because it compiles the words. Finally, I composed this piece as a first hand witness of how deadly words can be and how the formulation and the delivery of the words can break somebody inside out. How that someone can never recover from the gruesome flow of speech. The bullet comparison may seem extreme but think about it, wouldn't it be better to die once rather dying everyday. Words are jewels, craft them well but don't forget the disclaimer that the same jewels can strangle someone's soul and the entire existence. Be alert and word wise, your verbal gems maybe be killing someone. Cheers!
