But there is one more thing in which is particularly rich: in natural beauty!

There are 13 areas of protected Nature in Angola, which occupy around 82.000km2 of national territory. Today we'll leave you with six of them, the six main natural parks in the country:

1. Kissama National Park

Kissama National Park was established as a game reserve in 1938 and transformed in a national park in 1957. Located 75 kilometres south of Luanda, it has a total area of 9600km2.

2. Cangandala National Park

Located in the Malanje province, the smallest Angolan park has an area of 630km2. The Cangandala National Park was created in 1963 to protect the giant sable antelope. Can you still remember them?

3. Bicuar National Park

Located in the Huíla province, the Bicuar National Park was established as a game reserve in 1938 and classified as national park in 1964. This site is particularly known for its emblematic symbol: the buffalo.

4. lona National Park

Located in the Namibe province, the Iona National Park was established as a game reserve in 1937 and converted to national park in 1964. It started receiving visitors in 2001, through trips organized from Namibia.

5. Cameia National Park

The Cameia National Park was established as a game reserve in 1937 and transformed into national park in 1957. It is located in the Moxico province and has an area of 14.450km2.

6. Mupa National Park

The Mupa National Park was established as a game reserve in 1938 and classified as national park in 1964. It has an area of 6.600km2 in the Cunene province. One of its unique features is the fact that, besided being a natural reserve, it is also home for many Angolans.
