It's been pretty discouraging how the prices of things are going up relentlessly lately.
It may seem like every single thing you buy lately is more expensive than it used to be, but surprisingly, that's not the case. There are some things that are actually cheaper than they used to be.
Don't believe it? Check out this list of things you're actually paying less for now than you were a year or two ago.
1. Smartphones have seen a decrease of 23.9% since January 2022.
2. The price of TVs has gone down 13.2% on average since January 2022.
3. After a spike in prices late last year, steak prices are now going down with the demand, showing a 5% price reduction.
4. It's cheaper than it has been to go to sporting events as people return to crowds post-pandemic, with prices down nearly 10%.
5. Field-grown tomato prices have started going down since the year kicked off.
6. Car rentals are also starting to show a modest decline, down 1.4%.
7. Some stocks (like TJ Maxx, Costco, and Apple) are perfect to pick up right now.
8. Gas Buddy forecasted that gasoline will drop nearly 50 cents per gallon throughout 2023, though prices will continue to experience volatility.
9. Used cars and trucks experienced a tough market last year. This year, prices are down with an 11.6% decrease with a trend of declines over the last seven months.
10. Tech prices are down overall, with PCs and their parts costing 6.2% less.
11. Smart home assistants have experienced a nearly 3% price drop.
12. Household appliances are down 3.9% over the last year, the consumer price index indicates.
13. School supplies and textbook prices have both dropped 4%.
14. Camera prices are settling post-pandemic, down 1% from last year.
15. Last, but certainly not least (especially for parents), toy prices are down! If you can pry your kid away from a screen to play with them, you'll find they are down 0.3% from last year.
