Real Quick: How Do You Pronounce The "182" In Blink-182?

    One-eight-two or one-eighty-two?

Hey, so you probably know about Blink-182, right? They were unavoidable in the early '00s.

They're very well known. Even now, they're the subject of many a meme.

So when comedian Ian Karmel brought up the fact that people in the UK pronounce the band's name completely differently, I was like, "........WHAT."

The British call Blink-182 “Blink One Eight Two” and I’m not saying that’s WHY they lost the Revolutionary War, but...

    They say "ONE EIGHT TWO??!!"

Obviously the CORRECT way to say it is "one EIGHTY two," and any American will die on this hill. It's just one "Y," but it's a very IMPORTANT "Y."

Some people out there on UK Twitter are even trying to say that "one eighty two" is never the appropriate way to say "182" under ANY circumstances.

Now, some Brits are saying that they still say "one eighty two," so clearly this isn't an across-the-board thing.

But then James Corden jumped into the fray, attempting to play mediator by saying that everyone is ~technically~ wrong.

And now, the discourse has devolved into jokes. THIS IS SERIOUS, PEOPLE!

You might be wondering, "What do the actual members of the band have to say about this?" WELL, Mark Hoppus has weighed in, and...it appears we're focusing on the wrong thing.

Thank you James. Some say one eighty two. Some say one eight two. But in all of this, I feel like we’ve lost sight of the fact that the B in blink-182 should be lower-case. https://t.co/d3Gi2Ezmhu

(Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge haven't tweeted anything on this very important issue yet.)

So if anything, let's all agree that the "b" should be lowercase and that Tom DeLonge's verse on "I Miss You" is both iconic and super weird.
