I'm a simp for love stories as much as the next hopeless romantic, but the older I get, the more I realize just how many onscreen couples I idolized aren't exactly prime examples of a healthy relationship.
Like in Beauty and the Beast, when five-year-old me watched Belle fall in love with her LITERAL captor.

Or in The Notebook when we all just accepted that Noah threatened to throw himself from a ferris wheel unless Allie went out with him.

Or in Love Actually, when the Prime Minister fires Natalie (his junior staffer) because HE'S attracted to HER.

And then there's Gone with the Wind, where Rhett constantly gifts Scarlett with presents because he is "expecting" something in return, which is, like, the definition of toxic.
