“The Legend of Zelda,” is hands down one of the biggest video game franchises of all time, and has definitely been a gateway drug for people interested in video games. It reportedly is in the works as a television show at Netflix. The titan of video streaming is in the very early stages of developing a live action series based on "Zelda"; the series would be about a boy named Link who must rescue a princess [Zelda] and save the kingdom of Hyrule. Writers are currently being sought to work on the show that Netflix is describing it as a “Game of Thrones” for a family audience. The “Zelda” games have traditionally included swords and sorcery, like “Game of Thrones” or “Lord of the Rings,” but usually with a more light hearted tone to them than the others. Netflix is said to be working closely with Nintendo on the creation of the series. Nintendo has made about 20 "The Legend of Zelda" games since the franchise's inception in 1987. With the series still on the hunt for writers, they've still got a long ways to go before a “Legend of Zelda” series actually becomes a reality. Hopefully neither Netflix nor Nintendo choose to scrap the project before it comes to fruition.A Netflix spokeswoman declined to comment. A Nintendo spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Source
