The Spice Girls Are The Biggest Menswear Trend Right Now - Fact.

These Are The Girls You Wannabe This Season

Who doesn't love The Spice Girls? They're basically the nation's sweetheart, perfectly dissected and packaged into five fun-size pieces. Each one being just enough of what you want - what you really, really want - but never Too Much you've had enough.

This July, it's exactly two decades since little girls across the globe - and some boys - began tying their hair in pig-tales, or giving a peace sign, or screaming 'Girl Power!' depending on which Spice they most related to. What a time it was to be alive!

It's a well documented fact that the Spice Girls had a massive impact on the tween fashions of yesteryear but fast-forward to now and it seems that if you're a man about town it's time to not only Spice Up Your Life but also your wardrobe.

    Don't believe me? Read on...

    Mel C at Burberry

Back in 1996, anyone with access to a JJB Sports could channel their inner Mel C. Famed for her love of Liverpool FC and tracksuits, you could easily look like Sporty for less than forty quid.

This year, it's all gone a bit more luxury thanks to Christopher Bailey at Burberry. He sent models down his catwalk sporting the iconic zipped track tops, paired with mega expensive coats or embellished with sequins.

Beautiful but not exactly ideal for doing back-flips in.

    Geri at Louis Vuitton

Without a doubt the band's risk-taker in the fashion stakes, Geri's look was not for the faint-hearted. Loud, attention-seeking and brash, she often grabbed the Headlines for her outlandish ensembles. Thankfully for today's guys, the SS16 shows weren't all Union Jacks, platform shoes and cleavage enhancing corsetry.

Randomly for her 1998 meeting with South African President Nelson Mandela, Ginge decided to dress in a Japanese kimono complete with delicate floral print. Similar prints can be seen in the menswear collections of numerous designers this season including Louis Vuitton and Dolce and Gabbana.

    Emma at Christopher Shannon

We've come a long way, Baby!

Believe it or not, there was a time men were a bit dubious about wearing pink, with the hue being described as everything from salmon to light coral to avoid coming across less masculine. You could say a Mama's boy.

Emma Bunton's playfulness and penchant for soft pastel colours take a modern form in designs from Christopher Shannon who showcased at London Collections:Men.

Neon version's of the colour are also a favourite of design duo Sibling used across thier knitwear offerings, as well as Milanese brand Etro.

Looks like this year really is the time to think pink!

    Mel B at Burberry (again!)

During the Spice Girls tenure in Pop, Mel B basically worked her way through the entire jungle sporting every animal skin known to man - all fake hopefully!

She wore a leopard print catsuit at the Brits, a zebra suit in SpiceWorld - The Movie (Get on Netflix now to see some Oscar-worthy performances), and alligator skin on tour.

Christopher Bailey - in an obvious homage to his favourite Spice - has included tiger and giraffe in his latest collection for Burberry. Those Yorkshire folk do like to stick together!

    Victoria Beckham at Fendi

If we're to believe everything we read, Posh is desperate to distance herself from her Spice days. I can't see why? Always the most modestly dressed, the majority of her pout-fits (see what I did?) would not look out of place on the catwalks of today.

Who can forget the matching head-to-toe Gucci leather looks sported by her and David at an party hosted by Elton John? In fact, to this day Victoria rarely strays away from head-to-toe black. Thanks to Fendi, the look is back, albeit in a looser, edgier silhouette.

All of 'um as a brand

One thing we all remember about the Spice Girls is how much of a brand they were and how many brands they endorsed - Walkers, Chuppa Chups, Polaroid. Here dressed head to toe in the Pepsi logo, they are so achingly on trend for 2016 it hurts.

Vetements - the hottest label right now - based their latest collection around iconic logos such as that of DHL, whereas Anya Hindmarch recently created a collection based around Kellogg's cereal logos.

So there you have it! Concrete, concise, factual evidence that the Spice Girls are indeed this season's biggest menswear trend! I dare anyone to question different!

Also, I'll Stop with the stupid song title puns now.

    Goodbye.
