To be a #1 fan takes a "special" person. Special enough to hold your hero hostage, torturing him, and then forcing him to re-writing a story for you. That's how "special" you have to be. You tell yourself this scene is not real. The pleas aren’t real. The sledgehammer isn’t real. The block of wood that she’s putting between his ankles – that’s not real, right? RIGHT? Watch James Caan’s performance and see what you really believe. Kathy Bates won the Oscar for her performance. It’s called acting. And it's really F'd up.

Squeal Piggie (Deliverance)

There are lots of very disturbing, hard to watch rape scenes in cinema but very few are disturbing as the one in Deliverance. It probably has something to do with the rapist actually wanting his victim to be a pig instead of being a human. How would you feel getting raped and your assailant is fantasizing about you being a farm animal. That's some F'd up stuff right there. Most people can't even tell you how this movie ended but they certainly remember this scene. The only movie to ever popularize and de-popularize white water rafting.

Revenge for a Friend (Ben Hur)

There are plenty of stories, books, and movies that hold the concept of revenge very high in the story arc but none compare to 1969 remake of Ben-Hur. But the climactic "That's F'd up!" scene is as cold as they come. After being condemned to death in the galley of a roman warship by his best friend, Judah Ben-Hur (Charleston Heston) finally gets revenge on the former-best-friend-now-turned-arch-nemesis Messala (Stephen Boyd). After winning the chariot race to end all chariot races Judah stands over the broken body of Messala only to have him stab one last time by revealing that Judah’s mother and sister aren’t dead – but living as disease ridden outcasts in the Valley of the Lepers. Messala doesn't even have the power to lift his own head but can find the strength to utter the words “The race isn’t over Judah”. Now that's some hate.

Self-Abortion (Prometheus)

In an otherwise lack-luster origin story for the Alien franchise, Prometheus has one of the most horrifying surgical theatrical scenes ever created. Forget that the android David (played by Michael Fassbender) purposefully infected Elizabeth Shaw’s (Noomi Rapace) boyfriend with Alien DNA right before they have sex but the teeth grinding F'd up scene begins when Ms. Shaw realizes she’s going to be at full term in about 4 hours. So she does what any reasonable xenomorphic expecting mother would do: performs an abortion on herself. This all inclusive surgery includes cutting opening her abdomen, stretching the incision open wide enough so that the fetus can be pulled out, just in time for it to try to kill her. If you ever needed a message for abstinence this is it.

Pan Seared to Perfection (Hannibal)

Another sequel that doesn’t shine as bright as it’s original but still has an element of satisfaction for viewers – seeing the antagonist being fed his own cooked brain. Waking up a little too early from anesthesia, Clarice Starling (played by Julianne Moore this time) stumbles upon Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) removing the top of the cranial lobe of Paul Krendler (Ray Liotta). And of course Mr. Krendler is still aware just enough for Hannibal to cook the brain and feed it to him. If only zombies could figure this trick out.

Evil Wins (Exorcist)

Consistently one of the scariest movies of all time Exorcist has some of the most disturbing images and concepts ever in cinematic history. However, the most f’d up scene on this movie is when our hero, Father Karras (played by real-life Pulitzer Prize winning author, Jason Miller), dies by telling the devil to take him instead of the little girl – which the devil is most happy to do. You sit there watching as all hope for good triumphing flies out the window in a brutal suicide. The Power of Christ didn't compel and your soul feels condemned for even watching it happen.

Bloody Masturbation (Antichrist)

William Dafoe is always attracted to very controversial roles but this movie was by far his most provocative. A borderline decision for this list due to its egregious violence and graphic imagery but still enough of an artistic movie to claim some legitimacy. The scene in question is almost indescribable but it includes crushing testicles and masturbating to a bleeding climax on an unconscious Dafoe. If you just hurled you are not alone – most patrons walked out of this nightmare.

That’s what Monty Brogan (Edward Norton) needed from his very best friend Frank Slaughtery (Barry Pepper). In a Fight Club-esque brawl, Barry lays into his best friend Monty as Jacob Elinsky (Philip Seymour Hoffman) watches. Problem solved: no more baby face. All in the name of keeping his anal virginity when he gets thrown in jail. Yup, don’t deal drugs kiddies. Or go to jail. Or have friends.
