You're probably testing it on your wrist. Well DON'T! Test it on your neck for the best results! Try the five dot rule for even and thin coverage.

Mascara
Always do it before anything else! Don't apply while curling.

Lipstick
Make blotting your BFF. For a more dramatic look, make sure you know how to wear it!
Note: always apply Vaseline/lip salve or balm before adding lipstick.
