When you think of Lisa Kudrow, it's hard not to think about her completely iconic portrayal of Phoebe Buffay on Friends.
But in a recent interview on Kevin Nealon's YouTube show, Hiking With Kevin, Lisa revealed that playing Phoebe was actually a pretty big challenge for her.
"I had played dumb girls, for sure, but it wasn’t really me," she said. "I feel like, shit, I tricked ’em at the audition. I was the only one who could cope with the audition process and that’s how I got it, I think. So I had to work hard at being Phoebe."
"And then, like, third season in, I was struggling so much," she continued. "And [Matt] LeBlanc was like, 'What's going on with you?' And I said I can't...I don't think I have it. I don't know what I'm doing."
"And he went, 'You're her. Relax. You've got it. You've been doing this fucking character for three years. You're working too hard. That's your problem. You don't need to work as hard. Relax.' He was right."
Damn straight, he was right! Lisa was ~obviously~ perfect as Phoebe, and the rest is TV rerun history.
