Which Character Are You From Moby Dick?

You got Elijah! Even though he makes a small appearance in the novel he has a big impact in the story. Elijah is seen as the character that isn't completely normal and might have a few loose screws in his head. Since people view Elijah in this manner it is very hard for other characters to take him seriously no matter what he says. When Elijah spoke to Ishmael he didn't take anything Elijah said seriously. With this being said he was viewed as the town crazy. It wasn't till until later that Ishmael realized that Elijah was able to predict the future to a certain extent. Elijah is the character with great significance but will continue to be over looked due to everyone thinking that he is crazy.

Elijah

You got Starbuck! You are faithful and compassionate. You are inclined to travel the world and realize that there its natural rhythm and flow. Your values are rooted in faith, and your perception is shaped by that. You believe in a natural order of the world. Though you can be persuaded by those surrounding you to go against your instincts, deep inside, you know your logic is sound. Your view and logic is often infectious. You are Moby Dick. You sink ships to their doom and leave the sailors you encountered to tell the story of their fear. You are Moby dick; you are mysterious because you are a representation of men’s (Ahab) desire, ego, their hallucination and their down fall. You are his very being, existence, flesh and blood, desire and his very soul. You exist because of Ahab’s Madness.

You are independent, as Ishmael seeks no special rank aboard ship as he has enough responsibility just taking care of himself. While Ahab views the whale as exclusively evil, you, like Ishmael, keep an open mind. You are a perfect best friend, because your isolation makes your one real friendship with Queequeg all the more important. Your worldview is not static but rather flux, and you are open-minded and capable of change and growth.

Like all great entrepreneurs, you’re probably crazy like Peleg; perhaps you like to curse to blow off steam too. You’re also great at bartering and getting a great deal; you’re a super saver! Part of your great leadership skills entails motivational speaking and ability to provide well sought-out advice to those doubting themselves. With that, you’re also one to unleash your wrath unto others, as you have very little patience for nonsense. You don’t ever like to hold back your feelings; you’d rather speak your mind. You’re an overall influential person.

Peleg

You are the legendary captain Ahab. You have an abundance of confidence that radiates off of you at all times. Naturally you have a headstrong attitude and feel like you can take on anything that is thrown your way. The forces of nature are no match for your power and influence. You handle obstacles like a champion and keep moving forward. You are on a constant mission to destroy evil in the world and you will not rest until you succeed.
