What’s that supposed to mean?
America Forward's Today's Student initiative seeks to reshape perceptions about today's college students in order to create a policy infrastructure that can support the changing face of post-secondary education. By accurately identifying who today's college students are, as well as the barriers they face with regard to college access and success, higher ed policy can move one step closer to adequately supporting all students.
So let's jump right in with a quiz!
So, who are today's students and where can I find them?
Today's students are a diverse group that includes veterans, full-time employees, and parents. They're all around you, and we'll be convening them in Philadelphia, PA on July 19th for a Today´s Student Town Hall.
The Today's Student Town Hall will bring together many of the students and recent graduates that America Forward's Coalition organizations serve to lift up and give voice to the barriers today's students face, as well as the effective, innovative community solutions to these challenges. It will serve as a platform to generate dialogue between all stakeholders--today's students and potential change-makers like elected officials, representatives of presidential hopefuls, and America Forward Coalition members. By leveraging ideas from local communities and organizations, the events aim to broaden the conversation surrounding higher education in the political arena beyond cost and to encourage policymakers and practitioners to recognize and respond to the challenges facing today's students.
