    When most people hear the word 'coffee', the first thing that comes to mind is the bitter rush that most working adults flock to in the morning, or the fuel that keeps college students functioning through finals. Hardly any stop to think about the chemistry of Starbucks beyond that magic caffeine chemical.

    This infographic reveals the chemistry behind your Venti Vanilla Cappuccino, including the polymer that makes up your cup (a common plastic called polyproylene) and my personal favorite molecule (theobromine, also found in chocolate and tea). So, next time you move in a zombie-like state toward the nearest coffee shop, don't forget that the whole milk your barista artfully pours into your drink is actually an emulsion of butterfat droplets in water.
