What Is The Best Executed "Jump Scare" In All Of Movie History?

Movie theaters should come equipped with seat belts.

We are all familiar with the term "jump scare", right?

Paramount Pictures

It's that moment in a film when the music starts to build (or drop off completely) while the feeling of dread starts to creep into your entire body...only for it to pay off with an image or sound that makes you LITERALLY jump out of your seat.

In a lot of recent horror films, they rely on this tactic to get viewers scared, which kind of takes the fun out of them all together.

Lionsgate

But that's not to say there isn't an ~art~ to the perfect jump scare, which many movies (horror and non-horror alike) have managed to achieve.

Paramount Pictures

This led me to wonder: What is the best executed jump scare in all of movie history?

Paramount Pictures

Is it the grave scene in the original Carrie?

United Artists

Or maybe it's the terrifying clap sequence from The Conjuring?

Warner Bros.

Or MAYBE it's not even in a horror movie at all and it's that freakin' scene from The Fellowship of the Ring where Bilbo loses it.

New Line Cinema

Still can't sleep, thanks Peter Jackson.

Anyway, tell us which movie moment always gets you to jump out of your seat below for a chance to be featured in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post or video!
