We recently took a look at a viral Reddit thread that asked users, "What is the wisest saying you’ve ever heard?" These incredible quotes sparked even more great responses from our very own BuzzFeed Community! Here are just a few of the wisest sayings shared:
."My dear 92-year-old friend likes to tell me, 'You are the most important person in your life.' It helps to be reminded of that."
."'Nothing in nature blooms all year round.' This one always reminds me that I am constantly growing and changing, so it’s only natural that I hit some snags or feel stuck for awhile, but I'll be blooming again soon."
."'No matter how nice or kind you are, there will be always people who just don't like you.' Thank you, past self, who realized this before I started my wonderful journey working in restaurants and retail."
."When it rains and you go out with an umbrella, people may say, 'Look at them with their umbrella, who do they think they are?!' But, if you went out without an umbrella, people may say, 'Look at them without their umbrella, who do they think they are?!' The moral here is that people will always have something to say about you either way, so just do what makes you happy!"
."With regards to business, it doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell US what to do.”
."'It's not because you 'can't,' it's because you don't want to.'" Essentially meaning, you can do anything if you're willing to put in the necessary time and energy, but some things will take more than others and you have to decide what's worth your time and energy."
."It's so simple, but: 'Don’t shit where you eat.' Basically, don't purposely make things a mess with people you depend on, or at places you can’t avoid."
."'Four statements that lead to wisdom: I don't know. I'm sorry, I was wrong. I need help.' This reminds me that the wisest people are also the most humble."
."Mine is a lyric from 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time': 'Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. You've got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight.'"
