Seth starts the film as Herschel Greenbaum, a passionate man who immigrates to the US with his wife in the 1920s to seek a better life.

Herschel begins work at a pickle factory and, after what appears to be a freak mishap, he finds himself trapped in a 20th century pickler.

A hundred years pass, only for a presumed-dead Herschel to rise from the pickler, revealing that the brine had managed to keep him alive and untouched by age.

With everyone he knows and loves gone, Herschel discovers his only remaining family in the present day is his great grandson, Ben Greenbaum (who, yes, is ALSO played by Seth — DOUBLE SETH).

Ben is a computer coder who lost his parents in a car accident and, naturally, the arrival of his great grandfather upends his simple life and sends him down a pretty strange path.

Listen: This movie sounds hilarious and heartwarming and also ridiculous and, with the way 2020 has been, I'm here for it all day.

So be sure to catch An American Pickle when it hits HBO Max August 6!
