Everyone who has moved in with a significant other knows that it's a huge step in your relationship that comes with A LOT of surprises.
So this week, when Reddit user CrumbleNewman asked, "Couples who have moved in together, what surprised you most about living with a male/female?" the answers were all too relatable.
Here are just a few of the most ~surprising~ responses:
1."Apparently my cat — who I raised since she was a kitten and loved more than life itself — is more than willing to abandon me and love someone else far more in the blink of an eye."
2."After living with my partner for four years, I opened a drawer on 'his' side of our dresser...and it was completely empty. Apparently — after all of this time — he thought it was MY side. This was when I learned that he DOESN'T use our dresser at all. His clothes get washed, then he puts them into a 'clean clothes hamper.'"
3."If you and your partner are in different rooms, it becomes customary that one of you randomly decides to 'just check in' on the other person by opening the door, smiling, and then going back to your separate rooms."
7."I'd always heard that women go through toilet paper faster than men, but I never knew how MUCH faster until I moved in with my partner. Now I just grab a pack of TP whenever I go to the store for ANY reason. We may not be out at home, but we will be soon, and I've never been wrong about that."
8."My wife has really long, beautiful hair...but I was not prepared to find her hair in my butt and crotch regions as often as I do. I've even swallowed a few before."
9."Definitely the food situation. I’d eat ramen and canned foods all the time when I was living alone, and now I get spoiled with home-cooked food. The best part is she’s been teaching ME to cook, and I absolutely love our cooking lessons after work."
11."I had exactly two pillows in my entire house before my wife moved in. She has four pillows just on her side of the bed. There are pillows on the couch. Every chair has a pillow. We have a closet where the top shelf is more pillows. SO. MANY. PILLOWS."
14."I learned about just how good she looks first thing in the morning light, when she makes her toast, leans against the counter, and just crunches into it...also, how she can fill up an entire room with farts."
15."You quickly learn about little pet peeves you never knew you had. For example, he doesn't like when I leave eggshells in the sink without pushing them down into the garbage disposable, and I don't like when he keeps getting new glasses of water because he misplaced his glass from an hour ago. They're such little things."
17."I was told that we would start arguing and end up being miserable...but it ended up feeling more like an awesome constant sleepover. DO NOT let people scare you into not moving in with a significant other if that is what you both really want and you're willing to do the work."
