These ain't your grandma's Pop-Tarts! Shown are their blueberry cheesecake flavor, handmade with a flaky, buttery, non-cardboard-tasting crust. Located at 14th St. and on Capitol Hill.

These cupcakes are big, rich, delicious, and will take you back to the good old days -- as much as a cupcake ever could. With flavors like Red Velvet and Birthday Cake (pictured) as well as several flavors topped with candied bacon, what more could you want? Located on Thomas Jefferson St. in Georgetown.

Pleasant Pops in Adams Morgan has a host of summer classic flavors, but puts a great twist on them with more adult flavors like New Orleans Iced Coffee and Strawberry Ginger Lemonade...but you can always go for the delicious Cookies and Cream flavor. Who could blame you?

5. A Basket of Popcorn from Founding Farmers

Whether you're in the mood for sweet (Cinnamon Brown Sugar) or savory (Old Bay Butter), this gourmet popcorn will be a perfect treat. Pair it with one of their awesome cocktails (this writer is a BIG fan of their Bloody Marys). Founding Farmers is close to Farragut West and Foggy Bottom stations on the Orange & Blue lines.

There's no shortage of pizza restaurants in DC, but what sets apart this joint is the ping pong tables. Who would have guessed that ping pong and pizza went so well together? It also doesn't help that the pizza tastes absolutely delicious. Metro stops are Tenleytown-American University or Friendship Heights.

While Captain Cookie started as a food truck, a brick-and-mortar restaurant just opened up at George Washington University selling these delicious cookies. They even have a vegan alternative to their best-selling chocolate chip cookie! Also, any two cookies can be combined into an ice cream sandwich. Did I mention they're open until midnight?
