This Is What Happens To Your Neglected Business Facebook Page When You Harass A Mother For Breastfeeding

A Michigan restaurant manager is said to have stood by while a waitress threatened to refuse service to a customer because she was breastfeeding. Behold, the ensuing outrage.

Apparently unbeknownst to the manager and waitress said to be involved in this debacle, breastfeeding in public is protected by Michigan state law.

"(e) The regulation or prohibition of public nudity within city boundaries. As used in this subdivision, "public nudity" means knowingly or intentionally displaying in a public place, or for payment or promise of payment by any person including, but not limited to, payment or promise of payment of an admission fee, any individual's genitals or anus with less than a fully opaque covering or a female individual's breast with less than a fully opaque covering of the nipple and areola. Public nudity does not include any of the following:

    (i) A woman's breastfeeding of a baby whether or not the nipple or areola is exposed during or incidental to the feeding."

Within about an hour of the incident, enraged Facebook users left several pages of disappointed reviews on their business Facebook page and their rating fell to 1.2 stars.

As of this writing, there doesn't appear to be any responses from the business on Facebook regarding the incident.

So....yeah. Maybe don't harass a mother for feeding her child, whether by breast or by bottle, especially when it's protected by law.
