Man Appears In Court Charged With Attempted Murder After Leytonstone Tube Stabbing

    A 29-year-old man appeared in court on Monday morning charged with the attempted murder of a 56-year-old man following the knife attack at Leytonstone tube over the weekend.

    Muhaydin Mire, of Sansom Road, Leytonstone, stood to confirm his name at Westminster magistrates' court. dressed in a grey T-shirt and sweatpants. He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.

    The Met police's terrorism command continues to investigate the case.

    Two men were injured and one woman was threatened in the attack, which took place on Saturday 5 December.

    One man was treated in an east London hospital for “serious knife injuries” after police gave him first aid at the scene. He remains in a stable condition.

    The other man did not require medical attention for his minor injuries and left the scene, while the woman, police said, was unharmed.

    On Monday, the prime minister paid tribute to the officers who attended the incident.
