An American girl who was really uncool in high school watches what life is like for uncool Brits. Not similar. Not similar at all.

Episode 1: First Day

1.Oh, so a Common Room isn’t just something J.K. Rowling made up for Harry Potter.

2.How are they allowed to say such dirty stuff on TV?

3.Was this on a channel like HBO in order for them to say all this dirty stuff?

4.That’s some fancy dressing for a public school.

5.“Wanker” is such a lovely swear word.

7.Yep. Headmaster makes me think of Dumbledore

9.I wonder if I would have been any cooler if the drinking age would’ve been closer to high school age.

Episode 2: Bunk Off

34.Will is going to be really prepared for tax season if he keeps a receipt for a Frisbee.

35.It really weirds me out that a parent would just stand by and not say anything about her son calling her other son “a little shit.”

36.It’s a good thing we didn’t have to have our parents call the school to say we weren’t coming in that day. No way would I have gotten away with that.

37.Drink-driving. Sounds so weird and wrong.

38.You twat! Calling my husband that the next time he fucks up putting on our son’s diaper.

Episode 3: Thorpe Park

52.Don’t worry, Simon. I failed my first driver’s license test. Luckily, I didn’t have to parallel park for my exam; I’d still be attempting to obtain my license if I had.

Episode 5: Caravan Club

98.Ah the caravan club. I have a feeling it’s not going to be about camels and the desert.

99.I think I would’ve loved high school a whole lot more had there been time to play a round of pool in between classes.

100.I’m kind of surprised I never got tied to a chair and had a waste bin put on my head.

102.Ah….a caravan is an RV.

103.The star of this show is really Mr. Gilbert. I can see the fucks he gives just flying away.

104.Simon’s car’s fixed….with a red door.

105.Jay would buy a jumbo pack of condoms.

106.Simon trying to get the gas pump to reach the other side of his car, is literally half the population of Florida drivers at the gas station.

Episode 6: Xmas Party

119.So they say “A Star” instead of “A Plus”. I like theirs better. It’s like getting a gold star in addition to your A. And everyone knows that getting a gold star is the bee’s knees.

120.Will wearing a red velour suit is sexy AF.

121.And then Simon comes out in a velvet suit and my panties dropped.

123.They have alcohol at school dances/parties? They really know what the fuck they’re doing across the pond.

124.Will being the leader of this planning committee, was me any time we had to do group projects.

127.Mr. Gilbert on only allowing 2 drinks: “Or even worse, you putting your arms ;around me and telling me that I’m alright for a teacher; that you love me.” Best quote so far. And that’s high praise for a show that’s rife with memorable quotes.

CONCLUSION: This show is brilliant, as so many British comedies are. I have since binge-watched the entire show and both movies (thank you Netflix) and I’m disappointed that there were only 18 episodes. Waiting for a Mr. Gilbert-centered show, while still pondering whether or not British teens are really this vulgar.
