Buying Virtual Pints To Save Pubs Is Now A Thing
You can now support music venues and pubs, hit hard by Covid-19 closures, by buying them a virtual pint.
A campaign has started called Virtual Pints that encourages Brits stuck indoors to buy a venue a #VirtualPint. There's drinks from Β£2, with a standard pint setting you back Β£3.50. If you get a whole round in though for Β£20, you could win things like festival tickets, recording studio time for your band, gig tickets and band merch.
Some big bands have already got behind the initiative, including 'Killing Moon' icons Echo & The Bunnymen:
Half the money will go to the Music Venue Trust in the UK, and the other half will be divided among other good causes as decided by a committee at a later date.
Music press like NME, Louder, and Line of Best Fit were quick to champion the campaign that is hoping to raise at least Β£5,000 for arts spaces. After 24 hours the virtual landlords have reached 40% of the goal, so start drinking more e-pints to help them out.
With so many people staying at home right now, opening their own virtual spaces and hangouts, it's a great way to make sure the bricks and mortar of our communities don't get forgotten about. Because after all, what's more British than grabbing a pint and waiting for all this to blow over.
