Where Do We Draw The Line On Racism When It Is Even Coming From Those That Serve The United States of America?

A service member of the United States Air Force took to social media to post a racial slur out of hate, directed towards one of the African American decent.

Chloe Thompson, seen in the above picture, is currently in The United States Air Force serving our country. She decided to take to Snap Chat, a social media app, one night directing the racial slur and distasteful action of putting up her middle finger to me who is of the African American decent simply because she does not like me as an individual. She proceeded on with the night posting disrespectful videos of herself and others “cheering to ni**ers” with there drinks followed by the laughs and enjoyment of her actions and words.

I understand that we as humans are not perfect but racism expressed verbally or as an action should not be tolerated especially coming from someone who’s serves the country we live in and associates with other individuals of the African American decent on a daily basis. Chloe Thompson made a decision to join the Air Force and represent America and Americans; that includes every race, ethnicity, religion, culture, sexuality and so on.

This is not the first time Chloe Thompson has used this racial, insensitive slur directed towards me and probably will not be her last. We should not stop short of bringing actions like this to the attention of Americans. This is someone who puts on a uniform to represent not only the country we live in but also us as individuals. This is someone who wants to continue to serve in law enforcement and a position of power and respect. I am taken back and disgusted that we have Chloe Thompson and people like her serving The United States. This should not be tolerated on any level and as an American, we need to take a stand and make changes against all forms of racism.

This is just one member of The United States Air Force and though this kind of insensitivity and racism does not exist among all service members and branches, it does show us that we have a long way to come if we can not count on those who serve The United States of America to protect our freedom, rights and us as individuals. I hope to see actions taken to enforce equality and remove people like this from representing our United States Military. Doing so will not only help the fight against racism, but it will shine light on the men and women who serve our country out of respect, pride, love and acceptance.

There is so much more to be said but to simply put it in the words of Steven Patrick Morrissey, “Racism is beyond common sense and has no place in our society.”
